"Hallo und Willkommen!"

This was the first time the MFL department had taken students to Germany. We went to Berlin with a group of 21 year 10 and 11 students and had a fantastic time. Students wished we had stayed longer and would like to return next year.

The teachers, Laurence Nizan, Cath Costello and Tim Goodall, had a great time and, like students, learnt a lot during the trip. They found the students who went were fabulous and their behaviour was exemplary.
The weather was great, (we all got suntanned). Shopping was really worth the trip. We stayed in a very central place where we met lots of young people of different nationalities. There was in-house entertainment, with a couple of bars, fussball, snooker, video games, many computers with internet access and the Karaoke night was memorable. Once again, the Brit School (and its staff) was in the spot light.
The trip was very educational with lots of activities related to Berlin and its history, with the opportunity to put our German skills into practice!

Itinery:

A guided tour of old Berlin, including the Reichstag (German parliament), a sightseeing bus tour (open top-where we got sunburnt!), a visit to the beautiful zoo, the famous Fernsehturm (TV tower) with its delicous cakes in the revolving restaurant, the Stasi Museum (secret police of former East Germany). We also saw Checkpoint Charlie Museum (the 'Wall' museum and ways people escaped), the Story of Berlin and a nuclear shelter, a river boat cruise on the river Spree, the Holocaust Memorial (weird & fascinating experience) and the Topography of Terror, situated at the Headquarters of the Gestapo. We are planning to go back to Berlin in 2006!     "Danke und tschuess!"
