School Bursaries

Did you know… just applying and being accepted for a Bursary Award registers your child for financial assistance including FREE SCHOOL MEALS.
The Bursary award amounts to at least £1,260 (Key Stage 4) and £1,350 (Post 16), plus discounts, per year, and has four elements:
Key Stage 4 (Year 10 & 11) Students
Post 16 (Year 12,13 & 14) Students
  • Free schools meals and/or
  • Free school meals and/or
  • £210 per year paid in 3 instalments of *£70
  • £300 per year paid in 3 instalments of *£100
  • Free tuition for one extra music curricular (peripatetic) class (except if this is already provided through the strand)
  • Free tuition for one extra music curricular (peripatetic) class.
  • 50% discount on school trips
  • 50% discount on school trips                              

*amounts for late applications will be adjusted accordingly

Do you qualify?

You can register your child for Free School Meals if you get any of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of the State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190 N.B. If you receive WORKING TAX CREDIT you do not qualify, even if you receive child tax credit and your income is below £16,190
  • Working Tax credit ‘run-on’, the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
