Steer the Stars breaks BRIT School box office records.
The Year 13 Musical Theatre concert Steer the Stars performed
in the school’s Obie Theatre in December is the biggest
selling single event in the school’s history.
With a cast of over 60 students, this massive project featured
the talents of Year 13 students and was supported by the
Music and technical Theatre departments.
Our aim with this project was simple. We set out to provide
each student with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills
in dance, acting and singing. This took the form of solo,
small ensemble and whole company group performances. Students
were encouraged to embrace the demands of all these disciplines.
The show was sectioned into three acts so we were able
to attribute three distinct styles of performance with one
thematic strand. This enabled us to find a range of artistic
responses and illustrates the diversity of the work in our
department. The Musical Theatre students were hard working
and creative in their enthusiasm for this project. Taking
its inspiration from stimuli as diverse as MGM Musicals
and Shakespeare’s The Tempest, this show was the ultimate
illustration of the Musical Theatre department’s spectrum
of talent. Click Here to see photos from Act 1 of the show.
