Europe

'We are all citizens of one world.'

The Comenius Programme is a British Council funded initiative to promote collaborative curriculum work across schools within the European Union.

The programme is named after Jan Amos Comenius (1592-1670), often considered the father of modern education.

Comenius is aimed at schools, colleges and local authorities across Europe, and has two main objectives:

  • to develop knowledge and understanding among young people and education staff of the diversity of European cultures and languages, and the value of this diversity
  • to help young people to acquire basic life skills and competences for their personal development, for future employment and for active European citizenship

In September 2012, The BRIT School started it's third Comenius Project with it's partner schools.

We are currently working with the following partners;

  • Edith-Stein-Schule Akademie fur Erzieher und Erzieherinnen, Neunkirchen, GERMANY.
  • V Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace Im. Kanclerza Jana Zamoyskiego W, Dabrowie Gorniczej, POLAND.
  • Athenee Communal Maurice Destanay, Liege, BELGIUM.
  • Instituto Tecnico Industriale Statale "Luigi Dell'Erba", Bari, ITALY.
  • Scoala Superioara Commerciala "Nicolae Kreztulescu", Bucharest, ROMANIA.
  • Lycee General Et Technologique La Pleiade, Pont-de-Cheruy, FRANCE.

The title of the current project is 'Violence, a phenomenon of European society'. It aims to promote discussion through all partners to establish possible reasons for the phenomenon and search for a better understanding and ways of working towards a solution.
