Physical Education

All students participate in PE as part of the National Curriculum. Activities available to students include athletics, badminton, basketball, fencing, football, gymnastics, hockey, netball, squash, table-tennis, trampolining, volleyball, weight-training and fitness, sailing and kayaking. Each year there is a Year 10 Sports Day, during which tutor groups and individuals compete for titles, trophies and medals. As part of the National Curriculum the students will learn about the effects of exercise on the body, the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and develop their own exercise programmes.

In the lead up to the 2012 Olympics the Head of Physical Education, Rowan Griffiths, completed a successful application to the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG), to become a member of its 'Get Set Network'. This application confirmed the PE and BRIT School's commitment to embrace a support the Games of the 25th Olympiad.

Over the course of the summer, the Physical Education Department were able to take 140 staff and students to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in a wide range of sports - Athletics, Basketball, Football and Volleyball. Students were identified from teacher nominations and rewards for commitment to school life along with learning and academic achievements.
