Simon Cowell surprises students
"I think it's pretty amazing going to a school like this" Simon Cowell said about his recent visit to The BRIT School
On Tuesday 29th September, students were in for a surprise when X Factor judge, music producer and Music Industry Trust Awards winner Simon Cowell arrived at The BRIT School.
After a tour visiting an Interactive Digital Design class, a dance rehearsal, the Recording Studio and TV Studio, 150 lucky students were invited to an exclusive Q&A session were he shared secrets to success in the entertainment industry. When talking about originality and being yourself, Simon spoke fondly of former BRIT School student Adele and reminisced about her BRIT Awards performance back in 2011.
'I can always remember that incredible BRITs performance and it was nothing more than a spotlight and for three minutes it was just mesmerising, and when you've got that kind of talent, you don't need tricks,' he said.

Current music student, Olly Reeves, speaks of the opportunity he had to tour Simon around the school, 'Meeting with Simon was an experience that fuelled my passion for working in the music industry. It was great to show him around the school and show him what BRIT life was like'. Simon also had time to sit down and catch a song being recorded by Year 13 students Dayo Bello and Rehaim West. 'That was really great' he said, congratulating them on their performance.
In an interview after he talks about his day, 'The second I pulled I thought why didn't I go to a school like this, I would've loved it!' He then goes on to say, 'You walk in here and everyone's having fun, there's an energy, you can tell they love being at the School. Just enthusiasm and optimism.'
Simon is being presented with the Music Industry Trust award at a ceremony to be held in November. Previous recipients to be honoured include Gary Barlow and Michael Eavis, who visited the school in 2013 and 2014.
