BTEC Level 2 Tech Award in Creative Media Production
This course is strongly committed to providing students with the opportunity to explore a wide range of media. We offer an exciting, creative course that involves the study of both traditional and digital media. The course concentrates on the development of creative and technical skills, allowing students to combine their knowledge and skills in the creation of a variety of media products.
What kind of student are we looking for?
The course concentrates on production in video, radio and photography. There is also a range of media analysis coursework, including film and advertising. We are looking for you to be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm and interest in at least one area of the media. In most of the projects everyone works in groups so we are also looking for good team players who are committed and motivated in their studies.
The BTEC Level 2 Tech Award in Creative Media Production is a two-year qualification comprising eight coursework units. The course also has two examination units. All students follow core studies in communication techniques for creative media production, the creative media sector and media audiences and digital products. The course also includes GCSE Film Studies over the two years.
Students also study a range of specialist units: video production, photography, television production and radio production. Students will begin a journey here that prepares them for further study at Post-16 and for work in a media industry.

- 35mm black and white film processing darkroom and digital photography suite
- 3 classrooms with video projection and DVD playback facilities
We hold showcases and video screenings of practical work completed by our students throughout the two years of the course. Professional industry standard facilities and equipment, coupled with a high quality of teaching, combine to provide students with a wide array of practical and analytical skills.
