I am a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, guitar and bass. At The BRIT School, I teach voice, songwriting, practical musicianship, recording, and the keyboard, guitar and bass skills that support contemporary songwriters. My aim is simple: to help students develop the skills, confidence and creativity needed to bring their music to life.

Since The BRIT School opened in 1991, I have had the privilege of working with generations of talented young musicians. Alongside my work at BRIT, my experience includes:

• Professor of Jazz Voice at Trinity Laban Conservatoire

• Co-author of the original London College of Music (LCM) Popular Music Vocals graded syllabus

• Teaching and workshop work for institutions including the University of Cambridge (APPS), ELAM, ACM, Goldsmiths and Roehampton University

• Online reviewer and ambassador for Earthworks High Definition vocal microphones

In 2026, I introduced my AI Method for Musicians, incorporating creative tools such as Suno AI into classroom learning. Students explore how emerging technologies can support songwriting, arrangement and music production while maintaining their own artistic voice.

I particularly enjoy working with students who are interested in contemporary music styles and original creative work. While my specialism is not classical, opera or musical theatre, I am always happy to help students explore pop and contemporary vocal techniques alongside their existing studies.

One of the things I value most about The BRIT School is the opportunity to work with highly motivated and imaginative young artists. Our excellent facilities— including pianos, computers, recording equipment and professional audio technology—allow students to create, record and develop their music in a practical, industry-relevant environment. Alongside the school's resources, I bring a range of professional microphones, instruments and recording tools into lessons to enhance the learning experience.
