Over the past 20 years, Marianne has built up a wealth of experience playing classical and pop music as a freelance musician. Since graduating with a BMus from Royal Northern College of Music and an MMus from Trinity Laban, she has performed everywhere from the Royal Albert Hall, to Ronnie Scott’s and Glastonbury Festival. An avid arranger, she had her arrangement of hip-hop classical fusion pieces performed by an orchestra at the Barbican Sound Unbound festival.
She also performs regularly across the country and abroad with her string quartet, The Gold Quartet, with whom she has been a member since 2019.
Marianne uses her expertise in performance to ensure all her students receive bespoke and interesting lessons that cater to their needs, whether they are complete beginners or advanced players. She teaches a wide breadth of genres, be it classical, pop, musical theatre or jazz on both cello and piano, and arranges pieces for her students at their appropriate level.
An enthusiastic educator, Marianne believes all her students should have a strong technical foundation from the beginning. This allows students a freedom and understanding of their instrument as they progress, and opens doors to taking Grade exams if they so wish. For those with big aspirations, Marianne has previously had students receive scholarships to study at Guildhall, Trinity, Royal Academy and the Royal College of Music.
