Students at The BRIT School celebrate incredible vocational and academic achievement at both KS4 and Post 16 despite the disruption of Covid-19 by gaining the highest ever percentage of Distinctions at UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma and an uplift in A Level results from 2020- well above the national average. 

At GCSE, students continue to achieve highly in both academic and creative subjects with a further increase on last year. All of our grades have been meticulously quality assured according to our Centre Policy and we are very proud of what our students have achieved.

Post 16 

At Post 16, students commit to a rigorous curriculum specialising in a performing or creative arts UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels and some students also undertake additional A Levels or BTEC certificates.

327 students, 70.63% of the cohort, gained a Distinction at UAL which is the highest possible grade and is the equivalent of three As at A Level. This is a 15% increase on last year and a testament to how agile the school curriculum has been in adapting to online and blended learning approaches. 

 

The BRIT School also had exceptionally strong A Level results including:

96.4% A*-C grades

81.8% A*-B grades

 

Figures are higher for acceptances than last year with 247 students being accepted by their chosen universities. 21 students are going to Russell Group universities studying creative and performing arts degrees as well as taking up diverse subjects such as, English, History, Liberal Arts, Politics & International Relations, Psychology and Business & Management. We also have students accepted onto courses at top institutions including Alra, ArtsEd, Bird College, Bristol Old Vic, E15, Rambert, Mountview, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and RADA.

 

47% of disadvantaged students have accepted a place at university through UCAS which is substantially higher than the national average.

Students are also pursuing careers in a diverse range of areas:

 

• Yordan Nikolov studied Interactive Digital Design (Distinction) and History A Level (B) and was a student since Year 10. He is going to the University of Bath to study International Relations & Politics.

• Carla Pollard studied Musical Theatre (Distinction) for 4 years and is going to train at Northumbria University in Child Nursing.

• Kai Christodoulou-Lee achieved A* Maths A Level and Distinction in Interactive Digital Design and is going to study at UAL, London College of Communication in Design Management.

• Rachel Royle achieved A* History and Distinction in Visual Arts & Design and is going to SOAS to study History and History of Art.

• Dylan Rebolledo-Callot achieved A* Maths and Distinction in Music Tech and will start a Marketing degree at Southampton University.

 

Key Stage 4

At Key Stage 4, 38.2% of our students have achieved grades 9-7 across all GCSE subjects which is above the national average. Of those, an astonishing 99.5% achieved a 4 or above in English, whilst 94.4% achieved grade 4 or above in Maths.

A noteworthy mention to Grace Dalgarno who gained a Distinction in RSL Level 2 Theatre and GCSEs all at grade 9-8 and William Ward who gained a Distinction in RSL Level 2 Music and all GCSEs at grade 9-7.

In 2020, 93% OF STUDENTS HAVE EITHER GONE ON TO FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT AND/OR HIGHER EDUCATION.

The BRIT School in Croydon, founded in 1991 is the first and leading free performing and creative arts School in the country.

Since it was set up the School has a proven track record of producing students who have excelled across all areas of the creative arts and related media and now work in sectors including fashion, digital, theatre, TV and Film production, app development, graphic design, illustration, teaching, music A&R, animation and journalism (see notes).
